There are many grand declarations on climate change being made at various high level meetings. Not all of them are useful in contributing to the process and some seek to derail or distract from the issues completely.
The science is clearwe need: deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions – and binding commitments to get
there.
Kyoto is alive and well – and has led to awareness and movement from certain countries to reduce their emissions.
Ten years on in 2007, the challenge is to achieve political will and actions which reflect the urgency of the climate science - which grows ever stronger. 2008 is the official start of the Kyoto Commitment Period, and all the processes this year must seek to towards negotiating a new commitment period.
On these pages we set out our expectations and demands from these processes leading up tp Bai. For more information on these processes and the information on these issues contact Katherine Watts. |
