Canada will host the first meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol in Montreal in conjunction with the 11th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change Convention.
The conference is an historic event, 2005 also marks the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol (16 February 2005). At Montreal, the 1st ever meeting of the Parties to the Protocol (MOP 1) will be held parallel to the 1st Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP 1). The United Nations Climate Change Conference is set to be the largest intergovernmental climate conference since the Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997. Some 8,000–10,000 participants are expected.
This conference also includes the 23rd sessions of the Subsidiary
Bodies for Scientific and Technical Advice and for Implementaiton (SBI 23/SBTA 23). On this site you can find the following information:
